Valparaíso is named as Creative City of Music by UNESCO and joins the Creative Cities Network along with 65 other cities around the world.
After more than a year of working together and collaboratively through a public and private articulation, the “Valparaíso, Puerto de Músicas” project fulfills its first objective of being named by UNESCO as a creative city of music, which translates into the beginning of a work where music is placed at the center of the city's development model.
To carry out the application, an inter-institutional table was worked on. chaired by the Illustrious Municipality of Valparaíso and integrated by Valparaíso Creativo de Corfo, the Valparaíso Region music guild, IMUVA and the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage. We worked on a process of linking, articulation and inter-institutional work, creating bonds of trust and co-creation processes with agents of the sector to diagnose and co-design the musical city of Valparaíso in the first instance.
